FRP / GRP STP & WWTP Covers for Odour Control

IronStake manufactures modular FRP/GRP cover systems for sewage and wastewater treatment facilities, including circular and rectangular tanks, clarifiers, channels and project-specific configurations. Our lightweight, corrosion-resistant cover systems can be engineered with sealed joints, access hatches, walkways and supporting structures to help contain odours, reduce exposed air volume and provide reliable long-term performance.

Key Benefits of FRP / GRP STP & WWTP Cover Systems

IronStake FRP/GRP cover systems combine lightweight construction, corrosion resistance, modular installation and project-specific engineering for wastewater treatment applications.

Odour Containment

Sealed cover systems help contain odours and support controlled extraction of wastewater gases.

Corrosion Resistant

GRP provides strong resistance to moisture, sewage environments and many aggressive chemicals.

Lightweight & Strong

High strength with relatively low structural weight supports easier handling and installation.

UV & Weather Resistant

GRP cover elements are suited for long-term outdoor exposure with good UV and weathering resistance.

Low Air Volume

Low-profile cover configurations can reduce the air volume above wastewater where odour treatment is required.

Modular Construction

Circular, rectangular, channel and special cover configurations can be developed from modular GRP elements.

Easy Access & Maintenance

Removable elements, access hatches and project-specific openings can be incorporated into the cover system.

Engineered for Each Project

Cover geometry, spans, supports and loads can be engineered according to tank size and site conditions.

FRP / GRP Cover Applications in STP & WWTP

IronStake modular FRP/GRP cover systems can be engineered for circular and rectangular tanks, treatment basins, channels, pump stations and other wastewater structures according to project geometry and operating requirements.

FRP / GRP STP & WWTP Cover System Options

IronStake can develop modular FRP/GRP cover configurations for circular tanks, rectangular basins, channels and large-span wastewater structures according to tank geometry, access requirements and odour-control needs.

Dome Cover Systems

Profiled GRP dome systems can be used for circular tanks where geometry, access and installation conditions make a dome configuration suitable.

Large-Span Beam Supported Covers

For large circular or rectangular tanks, GRP cover elements can be combined with load-bearing steel lattice beams to achieve economical large-span coverage.

Barrel Shell Cover Systems

Self-supporting GRP barrel shells can act as primary structural elements with flat cover panels arranged between them for circular and rectangular tanks.

Flat Modular Panel Systems

Modular flat GRP panels can be configured for rectangular tanks, channels and project-specific wastewater structures with openings, hatches and special sealing details.

GRP Materials for Durable STP / WWTP Covers

IronStake FRP/GRP cover systems are manufactured using glass-fiber-reinforced plastic elements selected for high strength, low weight, chemical resistance, UV resistance and long-term outdoor performance in wastewater environments.

Glass Fiber Reinforcement

Glass fiber mats, fabrics and non-wovens incorporated according to structural design requirements and appropriate safety margins.

Corrosion-Resistant GRP Construction

GRP offers strong resistance to moisture, chemicals and aggressive wastewater environments while maintaining relatively low structural weight.

Stainless Steel Connections

Stainless steel can be used for connecting elements and hardware where required by the cover system design.

Sealed Edges & Penetrations

Cut edges, drilled holes and penetrations are carefully sealed to reduce the risk of moisture entering the laminate.

UV & Weather Resistance

GRP provides good UV resistance and strong resistance to weathering and ageing for outdoor cover applications.

Special Sealing Profiles

Flexible sealing sections can be incorporated where improved airtightness or odour containment is require

Long-Term Weathering Resistance

GRP combines UV resistance, chemical resistance and resistance to weathering and ageing, making it well suited to long-term outdoor wastewater cover applications.

Suitable for Aggressive Environments

For applications involving corrosive wastewater atmospheres or chemical exposure, GRP can provide an effective corrosion-resistant alternative when the laminate system is properly selected.

STP / WWTP Cover Design & Quality Assurance

IronStake cover systems are developed around project geometry, structural requirements, installation conditions and controlled manufacturing to provide reliable project-specific solutions.

Structural Engineering

Cover dimensions, spans and support arrangements can be engineered according to project-specific loads and site conditions.

2D / 3D CAD Design

Detailed CAD drawings and 3D modelling support accurate coordination of cover geometry, openings, supports and complex project interfaces.

Quality-Controlled Manufacturing

Material selection, laminate construction, dimensions, connections and finished components are checked against approved project requirements during fabrication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our STP/WTP fiberglass covering systems.

How do FRP/GRP clarifier covers reduce odor and VOC emissions?

FRP/GRP clarifier covers create an enclosed headspace above clarifiers and treatment tanks, preventing odorous gases and VOCs from escaping into the atmosphere. Special sealing gaskets between elements ensure an odor-tight closure, and the contained air can be routed to odor control or waste-gas treatment systems for proper processing.

Yesu2014our clarifier covers can be designed with walk-on capability where required, based on project load requirements. Flat secondary elements between main supports provide safe access for inspection and maintenance, and we can integrate access hatches, stairway openings, and safety features as specified by the plant.

Access hatches are fitted with continuous gasket seals that compress when closed, creating an odor-tight barrier. For tanks with moving scraper bridges, we use specially designed flexible plastic lip systems that seal around moving rods while allowing passage.

GRP offers excellent resistance to hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and other aggressive gases common in wastewater treatment. The material does not corrode like metals and outlasts traditional materials in these environments. Specific resin systems can be selected based on the exact chemical exposure conditions.

Lead times depend on project scope and complexity. For standard designs, production can begin within weeks of order confirmation. Major projects like Jeddah North (60,000+ sq.m) have been completed within 12 months from order to delivery. We provide detailed schedules during the quotation process.

Yes, retrofitting is common. Our modular system allows covers to be designed around existing structures, equipment, and operational constraints. We can work with tanks that cannot be taken out of service by using assembly methods that don’t require internal scaffolding.

We require tank dimensions (diameter/length/width), wall heights, any existing structures or penetrations, equipment requiring access, wind and environmental loads for your location, and your specific requirements for access, ventilation, and sealing performance.

Absolutely. We supply prefabricated, ready-to-assemble parts with detailed drawings and assembly manuals. Local contractors can perform assembly with our supervision if needed. We’ve successfully delivered projects across KSA, UAE, Bahrain, and Oman.
